You Deserve to Have Work You Love

I’ve had a lot of different jobs. (Careers? Are they synonyms? I’m never sure – if you know, let me know.)
In searching for work I love, I’ve tried a lot of different things on over the years – kissed a lot of work “frogs”, if you will.
Maybe you’ve been doing something similar. I tried working in:
- publishing
- advertising
- newspapers
- ecommerce
- consulting
- fintech
Along the way, I had a few other interesting jobs too – taking phone reservations at a dinner theatre, working at a library (I’ve done this a few times), working for a literary agent, and probably a few things I’m forgetting about.
What I (didn’t) find
Even though I learned a lot, was hardly ever bored, and met loads of interesting characters, I was looking for something the whole time. And as time went on, I started to doubt that I’d ever find it. You might be looking for the same thing. I wanted to find work that I love – something that I love doing so much, I want to do only that.
My method for finding it was to take on jobs I enjoyed, and keep doing that to get closer to finding the thing I really love doing. My method did eventually work — but it took 20-something years to find the career I love. I’m so glad I hung in there and kept looking. I almost gave up a few times and just settled for something – because hey, 20+ years is a long time!
Why am I talking about frogs?
So, back to you. Look, I don’t want it to take you that long to find a job you love. There’s no reason why it should. That’s why I started this coaching business — to help other people the way I had to learn how to help myself figure this out.
If you’ve been kissing more than your fair share of frogs, you know where to find me – I’d love to talk with you about your career.
